Ran's installation

So me and Ran got up ealry Friday morning and drove down to the beach to set up his installation. What he did was he made 16 cermaic "rocks" with holes int eh middle of them then he stuck a pole in the middle of them so they would move up and down the pole with the waves. He waded out to his knees to stick the poles into the water. Unfortunately the tide was on its way out, so it was dry land until 8 hours later, when the tide came back in that the real show began. Ran stayed at the beach all day long to document the piece so there are lots of photos and video. But that was the point of the installation...it would be different depending on the water...so people that came in teh afternoon saw something different from people that came in the evening...and by like 7:00 p.m. in was completely submerged. He was really happy with it and how it turned out. He said that lots of people would look at it and talk with each other and say how it was used to measure the tide. One hippie type guy told him it was littering but then later came back and thanked him for sharing it with him. Here are some pictures of it:

The night before we stayed up really late painting the rocks. First we has to paint them red and then put a light layer of brown. Ran got really tired of waiting for them to dry so he took a little nap on the couch.

Here is ran wading out into the water. He said it was super cold, but then his legs just got numb. Later when he was drying off he said he couldn't even feel the towel he was using.

Ran also took all the scraps of clay he had from making the rocks and poured them on a pile on the beach.

I have to throw one on of my pup...here she is getting ready to swim after a goose. Ran said she started to go after it and then the goose started honking and started swimming towards her, so she turned around and came back to the shore.

here is a little video of it. I might try and upload more later.

recent layouts...

so I really have been out of the scrapbooking zone these past couple weeks until Alisen told me I needed to turn in my layouts by the end of the month. (I had signed up for 2) So I came home from work tonight determined to get them done...and I did...and it was fun. So here are the finished layouts: (sorry the really crooked picts.)

Also another little quick FYI. Ran is in an installation art class this quarter and they have to do 3 installations. He is putting up his first one tomarrow. It is at the beach at the end of Cornwall St. (Just get on Cornwall and drive towards the water and you'll run into it) So everyone should go and see it. Who knows how long it will be up...until people just start taking it down or whatever, so stop by sometime this weekend and hopefully you can see it.

Such a nice weekend!!

The weather was great and I got off work at 1:30 on Sat. so I could enjoy the while afternoon...too bad I was cleaning, but as I was trying to take a nap on the couch (after all my hard work cleaning) Ran was bugging me to go this beacj with him so...reluctantly I got up and went. We took pup pup with us. It was nice, not very many people there and a ton of weird crap on the beach, like broken pieces of cermaic, glass, bricks, bones (??), metal, etc. Ran was playing fetch with the pup and she was so good at it! (she was not always good...she would chase it but not rbing it back). This once Ran threw it into the water and it went in too far, so she is out there swimming, but the stick is a couple waves in front of her so she couldn't see it and she started whining really loud and swimming in circles trying to find it. Poor pup... she never got it. Ran quickly found another stick to throw so she wouldn't feel like a failure. here are some picts. I took:

sushi sushi

That past week Ran went on a field trip to Vancouver to look at some galleries. Afterwards him, his teacher, and some other class mates went out for sushi. Ran had never tried it before and he LOVED it!! He had all different kinds of sushi, this soup with cucumber and seaweed in it, miso soup, fired veggies, and green tea! So this afternoon her is helping organize/clean my scrapbook room (a project I started a while ago and got bored with) so I went and bought him some sushi...they were California Crab rolls (fake crab so he can eat it) he keeps trying to get me to try some, but I am too much of a wimp. Maybe later tonight...we will see.

Thoughts about American Idol

Okay, so I have never watched American Idol (except the shows when they have the worst auditions) but this season I started the wtaching the beginning and have continiud watching it...not every single week though, I missed a couple, but ya know. Anyhow,

I was SO SO SO excited that Ace got the boot...what a corny guy! Starting into the camera with his arm stretched out and his long hair...making every pre-teen in America fall in love with him, but apparently no one else. UHG! and can you believe that one time when he opened his shirt a little to point to a scar when he sang about one?!? What the heck?

So I thought Taylor was really wierd in the beginning, but I am actually starting to like him. He is just real he isn't trying to be a "heart throb" or anything like that...he is just him. Plus he is funny.

So those are my rnadom thoughts about AI tonight.

So some directions for Mum: on the right hand side of the page you click on the titles lised under "previous posts" and it will take you to those psost or you can go down to Archives and click on a month...that way you guys can catch up.

A walk on the beach

Ran's parents came up today and they really wanted to go to Clayton beach...so we headed down there. We had a fun time. Again it was windy and a bit chilly. Darcie had so much fun! She was running arounf in circles as fast as she could go. Afterwards we took them to eat at Taco Lobo...boy was it crowded. But GOOD food...yummy.

I can't believe that it is only 10:00 and I am pooped...ready to go to bed.

Here are some fun pictures:

New hair cut...

for the pup and I think she looks adorable!! I bought a little at home buzzer set for dogs before Christmas with the goal of keeping her shaved because she sheds so bad. We thought maybe this would help eliminate shedding....her hair gets in the fish tank, which does not please Ran, and it is just a pain trying to keep everything dog hair free. Well I got a little behind of her haircuts, she hasn't had one since before Christmas, so I decided last night was a good time to give her another one. She is is good...she just stands there for me, not scared at all. And man, does she have a TON of hair!! Like a whole grocery bag full!!

(hopefully you can tell the difference)

Okay so now onto a different subject...I just noticed today that since April 2, which was the last time I uploaded picts. to the compter, I have taken 72 new pictures! Does that seem like alot, since nothing special was going on? and about 99% of them are of my pup. But she is just so cute and always doing cute things...how can I not take a million pictures of her? Speaking of adorable pictures here are couple recent ones:

Ran's parents are coming up here for the weekend for the Tulip festival. We have never been so it will be fun, but I need to clean up my house...not fun.

Oh...one last thing! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who donated to the Mighty Max Guild. We had the crop last weekend and the final numbers are in for how much we raised (drum roll)

$15,000

We are so freakin' excited! That is awesome. It totally went above our goal and we are thrilled. It was so amazing to see all these people come together to help out such a wonderful cause. Thank you again!!

What a weekend...

Oh my goodness. What a crazy weekend. First, I was so darn excited that Robyn and Tara were up here. On Friday afternoon we helped set up for the crop. We came home and rested and then went back for the crop. I was so excited that the silent auction went so well. With just that we raised $2500!! I can't wait until we find out how much we raised total. So the crop was a little crazy. We had fun.

We managed to stay at thier until about 8:00 a.m. when we finally came back home to sleep. {zzzzzzzz}

After a little nap we woke back up and we showed Robyn and Tara around WWU, the bay, and Down town.
