...more projects

Here are some more pictures of Ran's summer art projects. It was a little crazy how much he was in the ceramic studio this summer. The class was only 3 weeks long and he got more done in those 3 weeks than he did all spring quarter. He was just pumping out the projects.

summer school project...

Here is a pict. of Ran's latest project. He worked on it during summer ceramics. He has another one to put together, but unfortunately he was working on it and the pup jumped on him and a piece broke- so now he has to wait till fall to re-make that piece so he can complete the sculpture. All the pieces are seperate- the bones and the chair are bolted onto the rock that is bolted onto the cage which sets on the platform which is bolted to the cone which is bolted to the boat which is bolted to the torso. Makes it easy for moving it around. but we need some ideas of what to put in the cage- it can't be anything too heavy. We were thinking it would be cool if we kind find a cool piece of drift wood or something, but we want to see what other people's ideas are. So if you have one let us know!

fun weekend

so we are finally home from the Tri-Cities. We had a lot of fun and we were sad to leave. (although not sad to leave the hottness of the Tri-Cities) Thursday we had a super fun pirate party for Ran. We woke up early on Fri and met my family outside the Columbia River Temple where my Nephew Ryan and his bride, Rachel were married. We took lots of pictures. She looked so pretty and her dress was gorgeous! Loved it!! Then I went to a luncheon for the families which was really nice and then I took a much needed nap, after being outside in the heat all morning. That night was the reception- very fun. After the reception, since it was Ran's actual birthday, me, him, and his friends Brandon and JD went to Applebee's. Ran woke up early this morning and went to the school surplus auction. He bid of a pallett of instruments, some photo equipment, and a computer. We won't find out until Aug. 1 if we won or not. =( After the auction we went out on the boat. We took the pup and she LOVED it! She even tried to jump a couple times to chase the birds. After we had lunch at bruchi's (soooo good) we hung out for a while and headed home. The drive was so hot! I can't stress it enough-like 107 degrees. I am so happy to be back where it is not so hot.

Here are a lot of picts. of our fun weekend:

In the zone

Recently I have totally not been inspired when it comes to scrapbooking. I see all this great product at work and I get excited and then I get home...and nothing. Well last night I forced to myself to finish a project. I am making a little book for my nephew and his soon-to-be bride for their wedding which is this Fri. so I figured I had to get it done...and I DID!! but not only that- I went on to finish 3 layouts!! WHOO HOO! I was so happy. The only problem now is that my creativity is all over my scrap area and I have to clean it up before I leave now. (that;s the not so glamorous side of scrapbooking I guess)

So here are the results of my creative night:

This is the book. It is with the cool new dies from treas and fun karen russell paper. I am only showing the cover in case the people it is for catch a glimpse of it.

Seattle

It seems like this past week was one of the longest in my life. I swear it just kept going and going and going. It sure was busy. Started off by going the Tri-cities to see gosling and ended by going to Seattle to see gosling. They played at the crocadile cafe with a couple other bads- they sounded so amazing! I liked it way better than in the Tri-Cities- it was so much louder and the crowd was way better. I was blown away by the music- so amazing. If you guys get a chance you should check them out at their my space account.

Today ran and I went back to seattle just to hang out. We ate lunch at the cheesecake factory- so good!! Ran had the biggest burger ever and we also shared some fried macaroni and cheese. If you haven't tried that you have to- it is very tasty, not very healthy, but very tasty. Then we walked down to Pike Place Market and the piers. It really surprises me how many "wierdos" there are walking around down town Seattle. It made me very nervous.

Here are some picts:

Here is Ran's GIANT burger. Since he had already some fried macaroni and cheese and some bread he didn't have room to eat it all- boy was he sad.

Here is Ran playing whack-a-alien at this arcade we like to go at the pier. We like to play this game, the racing games, and skee ball. I think we won 80 tokens and we got a mini buddha, a slim jim, and a pack of gum. Last time we got a rubicks cube and a back scratcher.

Here I am pretending to be a crab fisherman pulling up a crab pot. (its one of my secret dreams, ever since I became hooked on Deadliest catch)

4th of July

I had to work on the 4th, but only for a few hours. 7:30-12:30, too bad I slept through my alarm clock and didn't actually wake up until
7:30. When I got home I was pleasantly suprised to see a COPS marathon on FX. (Ran and I love cops) so I settled on the couch to watch a an episode before I started doing some laundry and next thing I know it is 5:00!! Apparently I was a little tired.

It seems like the main fireworks show here is put on by Haggen and is over the bay. Parking down by the bay is horrible on normal days so we knew it would crazy so we just went up to the school and watched them. (WWU overlooks the bay) I must say I was kind of let down. It was very short and I am used to going to the pasco stadium where the show is choreographed to musci and lasts for like 45 mins. BUT the upsie is it was freezing out side- so short was good. Here are some picts.

Gosling...

is better than ever! Ran and I made an extremely quick trip down to the Tri-Cities to catch a show. We arrived about 1:00 a.m. Sunday Morning...went to the show that evening and then woke up at 5:00 this morning to drive home. Crazy. Anyhow- they played with 2 other amazing bands, Mu Meson and Post Stardom Depression (one of my presonal favorites) I had not heard them in a long time and I was blown away. Post Stardom has a new CD out now, so we got it and then Gosling has a new Cd coming out in August and we can't wait! Gosling and Post Stardom are playing in Seattle this weekend so of course, we have to go. Very excited. Okay- so here are some picts. I will post more later, like where you can here this awesome music, but right I am too tired.
